The Word Vomit Post

I can’t believe it’s already 11:50 AM and I’ve been sitting at my computer since 7:30! God, these machines are evil time sucking animals. No wonder my butt is growing faster than my IQ. Well, that’s not entirely true. It’s not like I’m sitting here downloading porn. Depending on how you use these time-sucking machines, computers can be very educational. There are online classes---not that I’ve taken any---and virtual museum tours---not that I've taken any---and a host of Ted Talks, Animal Planet and science stuff on the worldwide web. But more telling perhaps is the fact my butt would still fit on an office copy machine if that proves anything on the IQ-to-backside ratio. So there’s that.

What did I do with my morning, you ask, if not improve my mind like I could have/should have done? For one, I lined up someone to clean out my rain gutters. And not a day too soon. The latest storm that went through had water cresting right over the tops of my evestroughs and it ruined a couple of my newly refreshed bark beds. I also spend time on my medical porta trying to find out when the infusion center can schedule my Reclast bone treatment now that the stay-at-home-order has been lifted. Supposedly it was ordered last April 15th, when I saw the doctor. Since the pandemic shut down started the next day I figured that caused the delay. I figured wrong. What I found out is that the doctor’s office never sent the order in and had they done so I could have gotten the infusion back in April because that infusion is considered “essential for living.” The infusion center is putting an ‘urge’ tag on my file and I should hear back from them with an appointment date soon.

The above two tasks ate up a lot of time but I also spent time online reading blogs, Facebook and e-mails plus checking on my e-Bay listings and watching panda and elephants cams. The panda and elephants cams are my secret indulgences. Better than fine chocolate for making me feel good. And I ask you, who on earth would pick watching porn over watching roly-poly pandas anointing themselves with sawdust or elephants giving themselves mud baths? That’s as voyeuristic as I want to get. And look who I’m telling that fib to---the blog community who has often read my voyeuristic ramblings on characters I’ve seen while people watching at the Guy Land Cafeteria.

Actually, would my Guy Land Cafeteria habits be called ‘voyeurism’ or ‘eavesdropping’? I just ask Alexa since she’s the only humanoid/virtual assistant who talks to me and she seems to think I’m eavesdropping at the cafeteria because voyeurism would require getting a derivative satisfaction out of obsessively watching a sordid subject. My fellow dinners are not ‘sordid’ and the only satisfaction I get is when what I see inspires a blog fodder topic. I don’t want to use the “P” word here again, fearing the internet crawlers will find this post and spam me with naked pictures of body parts, but Alexa seems to suggest that voyeurism rarely takes place in a public place where everyone is keeping their clothes on. People who watch “P” are voyeurs. But now I have another question: If pandas and elephants are naked and are being filmed without their permission am I an animal voyeur for watching them? Alexa says an obsession to watch is required to be voyeuristic. Check. Must be done in secret. Check. Get pleasure from watching. Check. Yup, add ‘animal voyeur’ to my resume.

Enough of the word vomit approach to writing a post and pick a topic, Jean. Okay, bossy voice talking in my head I pick coins. Foreign coins to be more exact. Back in my teens and twenties I collected foreign coins or I should say I bought them from several companies that were more than happy to advertise their wares via snail mail. They’d send you a batch every month and you’d keep what you liked, write them a check to send back with the coins you didn’t want. For decades I had my foreign coins framed and hanging on a stairway wall, but when I moved here almost two decades ago I took the coins out of the frames and threw all 250 of them in a box to dispose of later.

‘Later’ finally came this past week and I’m officially out of Foreign Coin Research Hell which is another reason why I’ve been living on the internet. The e-Bay listings will have closed and the packages mailed out by the time this post goes live but I don’t expect to make much money off from selling my old coin collection. Half the kids in America were buying stamps and coins from Littleton, Harris or Mystic back then and what we were buying by subscription were not rare by any stretch of the imagination. I divided up my foreign coins into eight lots and since I don’t ship outside of the U.S.A. I’ll probably have to beg e-Bayers to bid and I’ll be happy to do that thus ending another chapter in the mythical book titled Jean’s World of Collecting Curious and Obsolete Things. ©

  1. Wow! That's bad about the Reclast. Good luck with that. Actually, good luck with everything. Take care.

I had a chat with my dentist today, and while we were talking about options she had her mask over her mouth but not her nose. When she did some work she had it all the way on. Sigh. At least I wasn't at a mob scene, which POTUS seems to be advocating as long as it's about him.

    1. I see someone every time I'm out walking around with just their mouths covered by the a mask. It is hard to breathe so many that's the reason or the foggy glasses thing.

I was supposed to hear back from the infusion center two days go, going to have to call them.

  2. Happy to see you had a new post! Naked pandas: you do know how to have a good time lol.

Good luck getting your appointment. I'm having to do the same thing - follow up on what should be happening at their initiative and quickly. It is a topsy turvy world right now.

    1. Ya, I'm not blaming anyone for the messed up appointment, but it's frustrating none the less. We are living in middle of something none of us has ever experienced before and I'm sure the healthcare people are extra stressed...or were back when the stay-at-home orders first started.

  3. I like to spend (waste) time on the computer each morning. I am probably on for 2 or more hours, checking email, reading blogs, it can eat up a lot of time for sure. I like it, tho. Since I have retired, it really makes me feel connected and I need that. I look forward to Wed. and Sat. when I know you will post. It is always a treat to see a new post! Thanks for that!

    1. I know exactly what you mean about your computer time making you feel connected. I live alone and I need that too, maybe more so with the pandemic still a factor in all our lives. Thanks for connecting with me!

  4. Hum, seems I have been missing out on naked pandas and elephants. Need to check into that. Know what you mean about the med professionals being almost as flummoxed and out of step as we are by what is going on. Hope you get your treatment soon.

    1. I had to call them today because I still hadn't got their call and the doctor had still not faxed over the orders. Once I get the order the infusion center want me to do blood work like yesterday.

The pandas babies are really fun to watch. They play so hard.

  6. (Blogger lost my original comment. I got the "Something Went Wrong" screen. Sigh.)

So many businesses are playing catch-up now. And they're having to wait for sanitizing supplies and installation of new virus shields to be CDC compliant as well as having to take care of clients already in the queue from when the shutdown hit. And supply chains are just now getting back up and running. Here in the Cleveland, OH, area the Cleveland Clinic president is begging people who put off their treatments and preventative tests to schedule them again. Lots of healthcare is not happening, it seems.

As to your eBay collections, I was never much of a collector of things. My brother, however, has large collections of everything from coins to baseball cards and beer cans to bobble heads. He is the collector in our family.

    1. I'll never get back my spring and fall bi-annual appointments that kept me from driving in the winters. Things are crazy in healthcare right now. And I hate that calling from your car thing they make you do now.But it's better than another wave hitting our state, so we do what we have to do.

Your brother has typical guy stuff collectibles. Isn't it funny how one member of a family will be the collector and the others don't have an interest in it at all. You either get bit by the history lessons that come with collecting or you don't.

  7. Macbeth (see ... my computer even has a NAME)is on most of the day. I start by reading parts of the NYT and local weekly paper. Then email and Facebook. Next are like dessert after breakfast ... BLOGS! I need a few more terrific ones to enjoy.

As WLLO office volunteer, I log on and off for 4 hours to "man" the phones, makes a few calls, enter requests in dinosaur software to look for volunteers. End the day about 3pm with a WLLO recap.

Toss in a ZOOM meeting every other day ... and VOILA! It's 6:30 wine time!

  8. Sometimes we word vomit! It's fun to follow along.

I've been spending too much time online, too. We were talking about that last night -- how our grand intentions have gone the way of no motivation. I'd say you are doing much better than some of us, certainly me!

    1. We've all had more time to spend online since we couldn't leave our houses for so many weeks, so none of us should really be ashamed of our online time.

  9. I like to People Watch at a Mall, it's a Human Sideshow in the City. It is humorous how Trolls scan for certain Words to show up here in the Land of Blog, they'll also show up if you visit certain Blogs they like to torment. Some Blogs are virtual magnets for them apparently and for the controversial real people, which are easily discernible from the Bots. I only ever had one Crazy Lady show up at my Blog in all these Years, she claimed to be an Artist who had a beef with another Artist whose Work I had covered at an Event. She was so much Drama and a Headache for that poor Artist. She claimed the Artist had stolen her Idea... I shut her down by saying, "Oh you only have One?" *Bwahahahahaha!* She never came back to my Blog but I suspect she hounded that other Artist, I just didn't want to get into their feud loop over Art that frankly wasn't that original no matter whose Idea it had been. *LOL* Word Vomit, I think I do that a lot, it's lonesome sometimes Caregiving or living Alone so you use up all your Words whenever you have an Audience. *Winks*

    1. I did get one troll show up with this post. The same, repetitive one that a lot of my blogger friends also get from time to time who knocks baby boomers for destroying the world. Now with the pandemic and protesters he's got a new twist in is undies and claims baby boomers have always treated the working class badly. That one really made me laugh out loud. From the time I was 17 and my husband was 14 we always had jobs and usually had more than one at a time. We were working class with long, hard hours all our lives.

An artist claiming someone told their idea? Creativity feeds off creativity. Unless you've got a brand new process that you've copyrighted you can't "steal" ideas in the art world. You are inspired by others.

    2. I agree, nobody invented the Wheel and every Artist has received Inspiration from someone or something already in existence. That Boomer Hater Bot is a riot, I Love when Bloggers engage with silly things with 'it' to mock it, we all know it's fake and more amusing than annoying. We had 3,200 New COVID cases Today in Arizona, new Records set every Day for a Week now and that Idiot President plans his next MAGA Maniac Rally at some Mega Church here, OMG, the insanity is unprecedented isn't it?!

  10. Your coin collecting brought back a similar memory. Somewhere around 10 or 11 years old, I began collecting foreign stamps, not because they were pretty or made me want to see the world. I wanted to start a business selling them to other kids.

I bought the small, clear envelopes just like the ones stamps I bought came in. Obviously well before the Internet (and stamp porn), the only way to price my product was to take what I paid for them and add a bit to the final price. After putting together produced twenty or thirty of these stamp-filled packages, with visions of money flowing in. I started going door to door to sell to the eager populous.

Zero sales. No takers. For me no real interest in the stamps themselves. Into the trash basket in my bedroom. End of story.

    1. I did the foreign and U.S. stamp collections, too. Only mine didn't go in the trash. I can assure you that had you been like me and kept them all from youth to now they still wouldn't be worth much. I just finished e-Baying several lots of 100 hundred foreign stamps in each lot for under $10. Not worth the time but I couldn't bare throwing them out. Most of the U.S. stamps I had were donated to the stamp musuem out East where they use them for educational purposes.

  11. We have problems with the gutters on this house. It has a pretty roof but lots of corners and ins and outs. The one at the back door always gets clogged, and every time it rains we open the door to a pile of debris on the steps. It clogs up and spills over. Yuck.

Hope you get an appointment for your Reclast bone treatment. I had to go to my retina specialist the other day. I'll be glad when they find a vaccine.

    1. I have to get my gutters cleaned twice a year. One I usually do right before the 4th because of the fireworks addicted neighbors who I'm afraid will burn my house down. I almost which I didn't put gutters on the house and those covers are a joke when my gutters get filled up with pine needles.

I got a call today that all I had to do now is go get my blood work done and as soon as they get the result they'll call with an appointment. I rushed right down to the blood draw place so by the first of the week I should hear back.

  12. I hope all goes well with your blood work and treatment. I got off the doctor merry go round four years ago and don't feel any different except I'm not pissed off as much being given the run around. Since then, three of the medications I was on have been halted because they cause cancer.
I have been obsessed with watching junk journal videos, especially Pam at The Paper Outpost. She is hilarious and very creative. Also have begun several projects, inspired by her. I have been altering paper to appear old and I just love it. Very addictive. I use coffee, bleach, paprika and shoe polish. Turns out I have a knack for this So it feels good to succeed.
I love YouTube and spend too much time watching but it beats listening to the news as much as I used to.
Tomorrow should be interesting with the Tulsa Rally. I don't have a good feeling about it, at all. We are all being played. Every time I was up a piece of paper I imagine it's tRump's head.

    1. Better you than me. I just watched one of her "Junk Journal" videos---which is just another take on scrapbooking. She drove me off the wall in several minutes. I did love that circle cutter she was using though. Very slick tool. I'm a firm believer in having crafts in your life, so you go girl!

Trump recently said that people who wear masks are just "trying to show disapproval of him." It's almost criminal for him to say such ignorant and egoistical things.
